Well, that was the piece of dialogue that was going through my head as I was coloring this. I wanted to choose colors that sorta represented the sun, red and yellow. It's a really important symbol for Victoria in the story later on.

Victoria is a secondary protagonist in my story, Wayward School for Misfit Creatures of the Generically Evil. She's the headmistress who's a bit of a judgmental, biased goof-ball, but she means well.

I realize that this picture has a lot of influence from paintings of women in the 1800's, which is because I used their dresses as references to come up with Victoria's. However she came out looking a little too skinny at the waist like the women in the pictures, and like she came from the South in the US. D:
